I have had several email and verbal complaints about skill levels. I want to provide some answers to the most ask questions or statements and any of you out there who have comments are welcome to chime in.

1. You moved me up. Answer: No I do not move players up or down, the computer system does that and the way it knows what to do is by the scoresheets YOU turn in.

2. This player is no skill level #, they should at least be a skill level #. Answer: This could be true or just sour grapes because they beat you. I get this statement and I look at the scoresheet to get the answer. Also, you see a player play 1 time and you are an expert on what skill level that person is. I don't think so. See More explanation below.

3. This player was not shooting to their ability, they were trying to build innings to keep their handicap lower, I heard them talking about it. Answer: When I look at a scoresheet and this player has 30 innings in 3 or 4 games and there are NO defensive shoots, or only 1 defensive shot marked, then all I can assume is they tried to make each shot and just missed. Must have been intent in every shot.

4. Top Gun complaints. I am never at the top in the Top Gun but other players are always there. Answer: Top Gun is figured 2 ways; win percentage and performance percentage. I do not use win percent to figure who plays in the Top Gun, I use the over all performance. This means, the computer takes in account: skill level you are, skill level of players you played, size table you played vs size table you normally play on, number of games won by you and number of games you played, and a few other facts. It is the more acurate of the true Top Gun. You may never appear at the top and then you may be at the Top all the time. It depends on you and who and how you play. For the Top Gun Tournament I do not take the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th player of a division, I take the 2 top players of each team no matter what standing they are on the list. This gives more of you a chance to play. After this July 17 Top Gun, we will do Top Gun at the end of each session and will take the Top Guns of the Tournament and have a Best of The Best at the end of the pool year. Trying to be fair to all but can not please everyone.

Some players who do all the complaining and don't understand, is because they do not read the rule book to find out about skill levels and how they are caculated and about defensive shots and about CHEATging and/or do not go to the national web site, facebook, u tube, or other places to see the video's on these subjects, should not complaine. They do not understand nor do they want to, they just want to complain.

IF THERE ARE CHEATGER PLAYERS OUT THERE THEN TEAMS ARE LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT. SCOREKEEPERS WHO DO NOT KNOW WHAT A DEFENSIVE SHOT IS SHOULD READ UP ON IT OR BE TOLD BY A MORE EXPERIENCED PLAYER TO MARK IT. I CAN NOT BE EVERYWHERE, SO I RELY ON YOUR SCOREKEEPER AND THE SCORESHEET.

There is a place on th forum where you can complain about a players handicap but no one uses it. They just grumble out to other players and no one tells me so I can check into it. I have a complaint now and the 2 players being complained about I have never had 1 complaint on them before.

Patricia H. Giorgianni

LTC Questions?

There are 3 replies, with the last one on 05/26/2010 at 11:53:13 AM by Pat Giorgianni
Quote:
I am sorry I missed these questions before the 9-Ball LTC but to help out on the 8-Ball LTC here are your answers.

1. Yes, you go by whats oh the LTC Scoresheet. A player qualifies on a team at a skill level 7 and during the weekly play goes to a 6 and is a 6 at the end of the session. They would still enter the LTC as a 7. It use to be a player was locked in at the skill level they played at the LTC but that has changed and now they are only locked in at the Nationals in Vegas.

2. The APA uses a Modified Singles Board for the High Level Tournaments. This means a player is guaranteed to play twice.

3 & 6. Your correct there would be a min. of $40.00. This changes each year according to the cost of air fare and hotel expense. The rule book says that this is a Travel Assist Fund (if the league operator chooses to have a players fund, we do). We try to estimate how much needs to go into this Travel Fund each year and that amount out of the team fees. Sometimes we under estimate due to extra cost of air fare, hotels, and nights teams stay. We agreed 13 years ago that this was a fare way to add additional money from all teams in the LTC's. This year the all teams are getting 6 nights and 7 days in Vegas. There is a $250.00 entry fee by St. Louis and this fee comes out of the Travel Fund. So at this time the league pays a teams entry fee, their airfare and hotel stay. Each team with 7 to 8 players will be alloted 4 rooms, if you want to bring a guest, you will have to pay one half the cost of their room and their airfare same applies if you want to have a room to yourself). The team is on their own for all other financial demands.

5. In 9-Ball we have 2 slots. Next year we will not have the Tampa & Brandon area LTC's together. With more 9-Ball teams this league can earn more slots for St. Louis. In 8-Ball we have 3 slots and we have already split the LTC's between Tampa and the Brandon area, each gets 1 slot and the 3rd slot is give to the second place teams in both areas to play off.

7. Spring rosters set the LTC roster. A qualified team can make changes to the roster the first four weeks, after that the roster is set and no one can be added. A player can not be deleted off the team by the team, only the league operator can delete a player off a team after the 4 week period and that is due to violations and other circumstances that will be reviewed at the time of the event. If a player can not attend the LTC or does not have a 10 handicap skill level set or did not play 4 times with a team, they can not play in the LTC but can still go to Vegas with the team.

I hope this takes care of your questions and again I am sorry I missed this one before the 9-Ball LTC.

Patricia H. This would also take into consideration the highest rank you have in either 8 or 9 ball.
